Belu-Simion Fainaru

Belu-Simion Fainaru — an artist, curator, educator and cultural entrepreneur — explores complex ideas drawn from philosophical and mystical traditions, translating abstract concepts into immersive sculptural and installation-based experiences.

Fainaru works at the intersection of art, philosophy, and social engagement. His practice addresses themes of identity, memory, history, and territory, fostering dialogue between the private and the collective, the local and the global. Drawing on Kabbalistic thought, he delves into questions of existence, belonging, alienation, and the boundaries shaping contemporary life.

Exhibited Works

Curatorial Notes by Avital Bar-Shay

Before entering the Rose of Nothingness installation, the viewer encounters a constellation of seven intimate works situated in the lobby of Sale D'Armi G.

These conceptual keys to the main installation are distinct verses that articulate the artistic vocabulary of Belu-Simion Fainaru. They offer a moment of quiet calibration, introducing the themes of memory, void and nothingness that unfold in the installation space.

The Special Edition of the catalogue Rose of Nothingness is now available and will accompany the exhibition at the Israeli Pavilion in the Arsenale at the 61st International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia 2026.

Drawing its name and spirit from the poetry of Paul Celan, the publication presents an interview with the artist alongside a range of essays that illuminate Belu-Simion Fainaru’s practice as it unfolds in this exhibition.

A substantial 200-page expanded edition will be released during the Biennale.
